Third Place finish at Berlin Raceway for 17-year-old Chad Finley proves he belongs in the ARCA RE/MAX Series
|
DeWitt, Michigan (Wednesday, July 29, 2009): For any driver who starts their career in any traveling series with three top 10 finishes is
an accomplishment in itself. When those three top 10s in three races includes a podium finish, any naysayers who say the first two
races were a fluke, are now quietly huddled in there corners when it comes to 17-year-old Chad Finley.
Finley and the Brad Keselowski Racing Team made the hour trip west to the famed Berlin Raceway, located West of Grand Rapids in
Marne, Michigan for the Wolverine Power Systems 200 Presented by Generac on July 25th. Once again Finley was behind the wheel of
the Brad Keselowski Racing #29 Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores and Certified Service Centers Chevrolet.
The DeWitt, Michigan teenager survived an intense battle with eight-time series champion, Frank Kimmel and took advantage of some
previous experience earlier in the season at Berlin in Outlaw Super Late Models competition to come home in the last podium position
in third behind winner, Justin Lofton and runner-up, Matt Merrell.
"We had an awesome run at Berlin. It was great to get Auto Value and all of our sponsors in the top three they really deserve it," The
excited teenager stated. "The day started off with frustration. Getting run into by a very slow car in practice was very disappointing, but
the B.K.R. guys fixed it up in time to get back out one more time in practice."
Despite the run in with another car in Practice, Finley rolled out for Menards Pole Qualifying Presented by Ansell and times in second
fastest, placing Finley on the outside of the front row next to Lofton and just 0.127 seconds behind Lofton's time of a 16.857. Finley
toured the 7/16s (0.437) mile progressively banked paved oval at a 17.084.
"It was a pretty cool to sit outside the front row in front of our hometown crowd. We started the race off way too tight and when we made
our first stop, they made an adjustment and it was pretty much smooth sailing from there," Continued Finley.
"We were able to come get four tires with 40 to go and make one last charge to the front. We came up just a little bit short but the best
car won the race and I think I could have got to Justin (Lofton) I just don't know if I was good enough to get around him. They did an
awesome job, and we're extremely thrilled with a third place finish."
Next up on the 2009 calendar will see Finley return to his Outlaw Super Late Model for the next several weeks beginning this Friday, July
31st at ARCA's home track of Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio for the tracks' Hantz Group/Allegiant Air ARCA Late Model Gold Cup
Series finale, which is scheduled for 75 laps.
From there, Finley will have a homecoming of sorts with two prestigious Super Late Model events in two days close to his DeWitt,
Michigan home. On Friday, August 7th, Finley will bring his #42 Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores and Certified Service
Centers Outlaw Super to the 4/10s (0.400) mile progressively banked d-shaped paved oval of Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run,
Michigan for the 44th annual Dixie Classic 100.
Then the following day, Saturday August 8th, Finley and crew will head home to the 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval of
Owosso Speedway, located just 20 minutes Northeast of home in Ovid, Michigan for the 1st annual Heritage 100. The one and only
appearance of 2009 for the high powered Super Late Models at the 68-year-old facility.
Finley is scheduled for one more start in the ARCA RE/MAX Series with B.K.R. Racing to retain his rookie eligibility for the 2010 season.
The team will compete in the ARCA Season Finale at Rockingham Speedway in Rockingham, North Carolina.
Throughout the 2009 racing season, all of Finley's cars will sport prominent decals from Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores
and Certified Service Centers as well as AutoParts2020.com on his #29 Chevrolet in the ARCA RE/MAX Series as well as his #42
