| Chad Finley began his racing career at age 10 racing go-karts and finished third in the East Lansing Kart Track Championship points in his rookie season. In 2004 he was the East Lansing Kart Track Champion and in 2005 he was the Great Lakes Sprint Series Champion and placed sixth in the World Karting Association's Manufacturers Cup Series along with several poles and National Events wins. In 2006, Finley graduated to full-bodied stock cars beginning in the ASA Late Model Series Northern Division and Outlaw Super Late Models with limited appearances throughout the year at just 14 years old. His first full season came in 2007 and at just 15 years old, he earned Rookie of the Year honors in the Outlaw Super Late Model division at Spartan Speedway in Mason, Michigan becoming the youngest driver in track history to do so. Finley also made a run for the Rookie of the Year title in the ASA Late Model Series Northern Division before an injury sidelined him for the final three races of the season. Nevertheless, he still finished fourth in the Freshman title chase and 16th overall in the touring series. In 2008, Finley picked up his career-first feature win at Spartan in the Outlaw Super Late Models and then Two months later, he backed that up with his first Feature Win in the Template Bodied Super Pro Late Model Series also at Spartan. Again that same season, he made limited appearances in the ASA Late Model Series Challenge and Northern Divisions as well as the CRA Super Series. The 2009 racing season saw Finley make his ARCA Racing Series debut. In four appearances during the year, he recorded one Top Five, which was a podium finish of third at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan. In addition, he also collected three Top 10 finishes and all four of his starts generated at least a Top 15 finish. He also won his first career Menards Pole in the 200-lap season finale at the famed Rockingham Speeedway in Rockingham, North Carolina. Only a late race incident derailed a potential podium finish, and possible win as Finley would be shown 15th in the final run down. Finley also made two appearances within the ASA Late Model Series Northern Division and came away with podium finishes in both events. A runner-up finish at the Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan on August 21st behind eventual series champion Chris Eggleston, and a third place showing at the Owosso Speedway in Ovid, Michigan on September 5th behind Ross Kenseth, the son of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series veteran and 2009 Daytona 500 winner Matt Kenseth, and 2009 ASALMS Challenge Division Champion Brian Campbell. In addition to his busy ARCA and ASALMS schedules, Finley ran select events in his Outlaw Bodied Super Late Model and came away with feature wins at his home track of Spartan Speedway. As well as solid runs at Berlin Raceway, Dixie Motor Speedway, Flat Rock Speedway, Owosso Speedway, and Toledo Speedway. |
