Chad Finley began his racing career at 10 years old racing in Go-Karts and finished third in the East Lansing Kart Track Championship points. In 2004, he was the East Lansing Kart Track Champion. In 2005, Chad was the Great Lakes Sprint Series Champion and placed sixth in the World Karting Association (WKA), along with several poles and National Event wins.
After making his debut behind the wheel of a full-sized stock car at just 14 years old in 2006 with the ASA Late Model Series, his first full season came in 2007 when, at 15 years old, he earned Rookie of the Year honors in the Outlaw Bodied Super Late Models division at Spartan Speedway in Mason, Michigan becoming the youngest driver in track history to do so.
In 2008, Finley picked up his career-first feature win at Spartan in the Outlaw Super Late Models, and two months later, backed that up with his first Feature win in the Template Bodied Super Pro Late Model Series. He showed his knack for consistency by scoring several Top Five’s and Top 10 finishes in Outlaw Super Late Models competition as well as both the ASALMS and Super Pro Series’ over a three-year span from 2006-2008. Finley also made select appearances in the Outlaw machine at various tracks throughout the Midwest from 2008-2010.
In 2009 and 2010 and in addition to his Outlaw Super Late Model appearances, he ran a limited schedule in what is now known as the ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards and made the most of those limited appearances. In 2009, he scored One Pole Award at Rockingham Speedway in Rockingham, North Carolina, one Top Five finish, a third at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan to go with three Top 10 showings and all four starts he made during the 2009 campaign in ARCA resulted in at least a Top 15.
In 2010 and in seven starts within ARCA, Finley recorded Two Top Five finishes with his season high third place showing twice and tying his career high finish for the second and third time of his brief ARCA career as his latest podium showing came at the fast One (1) Mile High-Banked Paved Oval of the Rockingham Speedway in Rockingham, North Carolina in the 2010 Season Finale back on October 9th.
His other 2010 Top Five came in the Messina Wildlife Stopper 200 at the biggest track he’s ever raced on; The 2.5 mile triangular paved oval of the Pocono International Raceway in Pocono, Pennsylvania back on June 5th, 2010. His first career Podium showing of a Third came at the smallest track on the ARCA schedule, the Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan back in the 2009 racing season.
Other notable finishes for Finley in ARCA competition during the 2010 season includes an 11th place finish in the Rattlesnake 100 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas on April 16th, 2010, and a seventh place finish in the Racing for Wildlife 200 at the track on the ARCA Schedule closest to his home in DeWitt, Michigan, the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan on June 11th, 2010.
Overall, in 11 career ARCA Starts between 2009 and 2010, Finley has Three Top Five finishes, all of them Podium finishes of Third, as well as Six Top 10 showings along-with Nine Top 15s while also scoring One Menards Pole Award, which came at Rockingham in the 2009 Season Finale.
In 2011, Finley concentrated solely on the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts Championship and in the inaugural season for the Salem, Indiana based series, he would finish third in the Final 2011 JEGS/CRA/GM points standings with five top five finishes including a season high of a second place showing coming twice with the most recent runner-up showing at Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, Indiana on October 2nd as well as at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan back on June 17th.
His two other top five’s were third place finishes at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio back on May 28th and his most recent podium showing at Owosso Speedway in Ovid, Michigan on September 3rd. Overall, he has racked up eight top 10 finishes in 10 starts.
