2012 Racing Season Set for Chad Finley Racing with Eyes on the JEGS/CRA Championship
DeWitt, Michigan (Tuesday, January 17th, 2012): As the calendar turned over from 2011 to 2012, Chad Finley Racing never even considered an off-season; it just wasn’t in the cards! As soon as the final race of 2011 was over at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana back in October, the CFR Team was already hard at work preparing for an ambitious 2012 campaign.
As the 2011 season officially came to an end with the Champion Racing Association (CRA) Awards Banquet on January 13th, the 19-year-old Finley was honored not only for his third place finish in the inaugural season within the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts, Finley was awarded the 2011 JEGS/CRA Sportsman of the Year award. Now Finley and the CFR team have some more exciting news.
CFR, based in DeWitt, Michigan is very happy to announce a pair of solid partnerships beginning with Kawkawlin, Michigan businessman, Mike Staszak of XLT Engineering. Together they plan an all-out assault on the 2012 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts Championship. In addition, Finley also plans on running select events within the ARCA/CRA Super Series as well as making limited appearances behind the wheel of an Outlaw bodied Super Late Model at special events throughout the Midwest.
“I am very proud of all of my guys at CFR. We built this race team from the ground up in a short amount of time. They have proved themselves time and time again to be winners,” An appreciative Jeff Finley stated. “It’s my goal to award them the wins they deserve for their hard work and dedication. Being at BKR (Brad Keselowski Racing) for that short stint opened my eyes and taught me what I needed to do to build a winning team. I feel we should have found victory lane a few times in 2011, but they got away because of bad luck.”
“Now with Mike (Staszak) coming on board, I believe he will be the final piece to the puzzle. We will be able to do more testing which I think hurt us some last year.” Finley continued. “Chad and I talked a lot over this past season and this off season on things we could do that would benefit us most and at the end of the day it was testing.” He said.
Staszak added; “I met the Finley’s at an ASA Late Model Series race a few years back. Chad impressed me at that point. Then we went to the JEGS/CRA race at Dixie last year and he ran second and I was impressed yet again.” He explained. “I got to talking with his Dad (Jeff Finley) and how things were going for his career. Then after we talked, I felt I could help them some. So I got to talking with Chas (Howe) at Howe Racing Enterprises well as others about them and everyone had nothing but good things to say about them and their hard work and dedication.”
He then continued; “XLT Engineering is proud to become associated with them and look forward to helping them achieve their goals. There goals are pretty simple and it is to work hard and win races. That was very nice to hear and again I am going to help them with that.” Staszak ended.
Staszak is a part-time driver himself and will make select appearances in JEGS/CRA as well as a number of event at near-by Auto City Speedway in Clio, Michigan in the tracks weekly Super Stocks division. Similar to Pro Late Models around the country, this division utilizes the Template body / Crate motor packaged used in JEGS/CRA.
In addition, CFR also is very proud to announce a continuing working relationship with Howe Racing Enterprises based out of Beaverton, Michigan. “There was an opportunity for us to switch chassis builders. But I felt that with where our program was and how much (Crew Chief) Jimmy D. Smith and all the guys had learned and progressed over the year, we should just stay at home with Howe Racing Enterprises.” Finley added. “The guys all agreed and Chas (Howe) has been a big help to us every step of the way all year and it will continue on in 2012.”
“I have known Jeff (Finley) for many years and I don’t know of anyone more dedicated to racing both as a racer and a father,” Offered Chas Howe, President of Howe Racing Enterprises. “The Finley family has been tremendous advocates for Howe Racing and it is great to see another generation continuing this with Chad (Finley).”
Howe then added; “Chad has proven that he can run up front and given the opportunity I believe he is capable of contending for the win in any event. He ran very well last season considering that he was working with a new team and a limited budget. I am expecting an even better year for Chad this season with Mike (Staszak) coming on board.” Howe ended.
While still in the off-season, the 19-year-old (who turns 20 on March 17th) is entered in the Champion Spark Plugs “Search for a Champion” contest. Finley is entered in the “Asphalt” category. Voting is on-going and continues up to February 5th. After viewing the video, cast your vote and help him earn at least $10,000 for being a top five finalist and have a chance at a $50,000 Grand Prize. During the inaugural JEGS/CRA campaign, Finley finished third in the final points standings with five top five finishes including a season high second place finish on two occasions; At Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, Indiana on October 2nd, after starting 35th, and at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan on June 17th. He also racked up an impressive nine top 10 finishes in the 11 series events.
Throughout the 2011 racing season, Finley’s #42 Howe Racing Enterprises template bodied machine with a Ford Fusion body and a crate engine from Phil Harper Motorsports carried sponsorship from Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers as well as AutoParts2020.com, Rain Eater Wiper Blades, The Airlift Company, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, NorthsideTowing.net, Nalett Trucking, and M.P.H. Third Place at Winchester & Third Place Finish in the Final 2011 JEGS/CRA/GM Points for Chad Finley
DeWitt, MI (October 17, 2011) – 19-year-old Chad Finley ended the 2011 racing season with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts at the series’ 2011 season finale, which was held during the 40th annual Winchester 400 weekend at the legendary ½ (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana.
The 11th and final race for JEGS/CRA/GM will be the W&M Manufacturing / Pier-Mac 100 Plastics Presented by JEGS.com highlighted the Saturday portion of the three-day weekend under the lights in Eastern Indiana. Winchester was also the site of Finley’s hard crash back on August 20th during the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com. So a return trip to the high-banks was in store for the Chad Finley Racing (CFR) Team and he was more than eager to return to the famed high-banks with hopes of earning a little redemption in the process.
After Qualifying 14th out of the 30-car field, Finley would have his work cut out for him and from the drop of the green flag, the DeWitt, Michigan driver wasted no time working his way to the front of the field. In just five laps, Finley had already cracked the top 10 and by lap 10 was up to seventh. By the ¼ mark of the 100-lap main, Finley had worked his way into the top five and a lap later he would pass two more cars to appear on the podium in third.
“I thought it would take us longer to get to the front then it did, but the car was so good on the low line that we just blasted up through there. It was pretty exciting getting up there so quickly.” Stated the Great Lakes State driver. Already sitting in third, Finley would bide his time and wait for the 3/4s mark of the race before pressing the issue. What wasn’t expected though was that the remainder of the event would go caution free.
Eventual race winner, Travis Braden and eventual runner-up finisher, Trent Snyder would build up a good lead on Finley and in the end, the DeWitt, Michigan driver would unfortunately run out of time in trying to reel in the two leaders and would stay in third although he did make up over half the distance he had trailed the two leaders at the lap 75 mark.
“The way the cautions kept flying early in the race, I thought we’d just ride for a bit. Wrong again on that one.” He laughed. “I was coming back up there, but the lapped traffic was racing each other so hard I really had to be cautious. There at the end it was better to ride those last 10 or 15 laps then to get caught up on what was going on in front me.”
“It was good to leave Winchester with another podium finish though.” He continued. “We worked on the car all weekend in race trim. Really just trying to fine tune it. We lacked a little bit of speed in qualifying, but (Crew Chief) Jimmy D. Smith and all the boys at CFR gave me another great racecar. We were really consistent this year and I’m proud of my team for that.”
Finley then added; “We just didn’t qualify as well as we needed to overall and that along with our bad luck is the only thing that stopped us from having a shot at the championship. I’m so proud of the effort from my team though, it felt good to run up front and have chances to win. We just came up a little bit short.”
Finley will finish third in the Final 2011 JEGS/CRA/GM points standings with five top five finishes including a season high of a second place showing coming twice with the most recent runner-up at Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, Indiana on October 2nd as well as at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan back on June 17th. His two other top five’s were third place finishes at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio back on May 28th and his most recent podium showing at Owosso Speedway in Ovid, Michigan on September 3rd. Overall, he has racked up eight top 10 finishes in 10 starts.
The #42 Howe Racing Enterprises template ride with a Ford Fusion body and a crate engine from Phil Harper Motorsports carried sponsorship throughout the 2011 racing season from; AutoParts2020.com, as well as Rain Eater Wiper Blades, Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers, the Airlift Company, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, NorthsideTowing.net, Nalett Trucking, and M.P.H. Promotions.
The 2011 racing season is tentatively over for CFR. Although if enough funding is made available to the team, Finley and crew will make the trip down to Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida on Thursday-Saturday, December 1-3rd for the Snowflake 100, which is part of the prestigious 44th annual Snowball Derby Weekend down in Western Florida.
“It would be awesome to go there. That race has been on our radar. If we could get a little bit of help I know we could go and be completive.” He offered. “We’ll have to see if we can find some help for that race. We have a lot to offer a marketing partner if we should get the chance.” He ended.

Winning is the #1 Goal for Chad Finley heading to Winchester to finish the 2011 racing season
DeWitt, MI (October 10, 2011) - When the 2011 racing season started for 19-year-old Chad Finley, the goal was a top five points finish for Chad Finley Racing (CFR) in the inaugural JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts Series Championship. Heading into the last race of the inaugural season
for the Salem, Indiana based series, Finley is sitting solidly in third in the season long points chase with an outside chance at the runner-up spot.
The 2011 season finale for the JEGS/CRA/GM series will be held during the 40th annual Winchester 400 weekend on Friday-Sunday, October 14-16th at the legendary ½ (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana. The 11th and final race for JEGS/CRA/GM will be the W&M Manufacturing / Pier-Mac 100 Plastics Presented by JEGS.com which highlights the Saturday portion of the three-day weekend under the lights on Saturday, October 15th.
“We have had a mixed variety of things happen this year at CFR. From a pin hole in a radiator hose which set us back to starting dead last on the field to finishing second speaks volumes,” Finley remarked. “We put this team together to build the future of CFR and I am very proud of where it is at today. We have had our misfortunes, but the future looks good and the never give up attitude is building it even brighter.” He added.
In Finley’s last race within JEGS/CRA/GM, he started 35th (last) after wrecking the car in Keyser Manufacturing Qualifying. After the CFR team worked throughout the night, and early the next morning, the car was ready to race and the DeWitt, Michigan standout made the most of a very hectic Sunday afternoon of racing. After all was said and done, Finley would settle for second after advancing a whopping 33 positions in the race and in the process, set a series record for the most positions gained in one race!
“LOR (Lucas Oil Raceway) was a good boost for us all after the hole I put the team in qualifying.” The DeWitt, Michigan driver offered. “We’ll be a lot smarter at Winchester that’s for sure. This is our last chance to win one of these JEGS/CRA/GM series races this year, so we are very focused on that as our main goal.”
Finley will head into Winchester third in the season long points chase as he’s 46 markers back of second place Eddie Hoffman and 74 points behind current series points leader, Erik Jones for the JEGS/CRA/GM points lead. Winchester is also the site of Finley’s hard crash back on August 20th during the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com and he’s eager to return to the famed high-banks with hopes of earning a little redemption in the process.
“We definitely want to keep all four wheels on the ground this time around.” He laughed. “Honestly we had a real good car there last time. Just got caught up in nothing of our own doing. Phil Harper (Phil Harper Motorsports) found a few gains on horsepower so we will have even more power this time around. We should be real good in race trim there.”
“All of us at CFR have to thank everyone for their support this year as the season comes to an end. Starting with Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers, who have been the back bone for us this year. Appreciate them very much.” Finley added. “Howe Racing Enterprises for their continued help. We have had some very fast cars this year. Rain Eater Wiper Blades, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, and the Air Lift Company as well. All of which are available in the Auto Wares group of stores and at AutoParts2020.com. It’s been a great year of building and I am grateful to everyone.” He ended.
With one race remaining in the JEGS/CRA/GM schedule, Finley has recorded four top five finishes with a season high of a second place showing coming twice with the most recent runner-up at Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, Indiana on October 2nd as well as at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan back on June 17th.

JEGS/CRA/GM Series Hard-Charger, Chad Finley starts 35th, finishes 2nd at Lucas Oil Raceway
DeWitt, MI (October 3, 2011) – There’s not a single doubt in anyone’s mind who the Hard-Charger of the race was at Lucas Oil Raceway on October 2nd in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts’ 10th race of the inaugural season for the template body / crate motor series. 19-year-old Chad Finley also erased any doubt anyone had about him with his performance.
After crashing his #42 AutoParts2020.com Ford in Keyser Manufacturing Qualifying the previous
day at the fast 0.686 mile semi-banked paved oval located west of Indianapolis in Clermont, Indiana, the entire Chad Finley Racing (CFR) Team went right to work on the car and after making the necessary repairs to his machine, which lasted well into that night, and early the next morning, the car was ready to go and he would start shotgun on the field in 35th position.
“First off I have to thank all the guys on my CFR team that worked extremely hard to get the car back together, I put us in a hole after Qualifying and was really upset that I tore up a flawless racecar.” Finley explained. “My Crew Chief, Jimmy D. Smith hasn’t let me down all year and told me he would get the car back to where it was in practice, it was flawless all afternoon.” He added.
“”The car just jumped out from under me there in the middle of three and four coming to the green. I may have been trying too hard, but man she never wiggled at all in practice. I felt terrible for the Team. These guys never quit though.” Finley continued.
As soon as the green flag dropped, Finley went to work to make up for his starting position deficit. Throughout the 100-lap main, Finley ducked high and low, even going three-wide at various points during the race. By the ½ way point of the race, the DeWitt, Michigan driver had worked his way up into the top 10. By the 3/4s mark, he had cracked the top six and with less than 20 laps to go, he found himself in second place behind race long leader and pole-sitter, Colt James.
“We restarted sixth there on the outside and we were running fourth with 20 to go when a bunch of cars in front of us got together a lap or so after the restart.” Finley continued. “I turned the wheel as hard as I could to miss them, which was not by much, and when I looked in the mirror and seen the big pile up, I was shocked to see them all bouncing off each other.” He added.
In the end, Finley would settle for second after advancing a whopping 33 positions in the race and in the process, set a series record for the most positions gained in one race! “We never held back once the green waived. We went right to work on moving forward. I knew I owed it to these guys to get us up to the front and there was no way I was going to let them down.” The Great Lakes State driver offered.
“I knew getting by Colt was going to be tough. He was out front all race long in clean air and could really save his tires. We raced so hard to get to second, once we got that caution I knew that was going to be probably my only chance to get by. We leaned on each other through turns one and two, but he was able to
drive off and we just ran out of tires at the end, but hats off to those guys. They did a great job. He had a faster car there at the end, so we’ll take it and roll on.” He ended.
With one race remaining in the JEGS/CRA/GM schedule, Finley has recorded four top five finishes with a season high of a second place showing coming twice with the most recent runner-up at Lucas Oil Raceway. The other second place finish was at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan back on June 17th.
The 2011 season finale will be held during the 40th annual Winchester 400 weekend on Friday-Sunday, October 14-16th at the legendary ½ (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana. The 11th and final race for JEGS/CRA/GM will be the W&M Pier-Mac 100 Presented by JEGS.com which highlights the Saturday portion of the three-day weekend on October 15th.
Finley will head into Winchester sitting a solid third in the season long points chase as he’s 46 markers back of second place Eddie Hoffman and 74 points behind current series points leader, Erik Jones for the JEGS/CRA/GM points lead. Winchester is also the site of Finley’s hard crash back on August 20th during the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com and he’s eager to return to the famed high-banks in hopes of earning a little redemption.

Two More Races in the Hoosier State to Decide Inaugural JEGS/CRA/GM Title Hopes for Chad Finley
DeWitt, MI (September 29, 2011) – There are just two events remaining in the inaugural season for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts season. Both events for the Salem, Indiana based series are in the series home state and at two of the most prestigious facilities in the country.
This Saturday and Sunday, October 1-2nd, the immaculate 0.686 mile semi-banked
paved oval of Lucas Oil Raceway, located west of Indianapolis in Clermont, Indiana is the site for the 10th race of the 2011 campaign for JEGS/CRA/GM, the McGunegill Engine Performance 100 Presented by JEGS.com which is part of the Seal Wrap Repair Tape Fall Brawl Weekend in Central Indiana. For 19-year-old Chad Finley, who comes into the event third in the season long points chase, everything is on the line in this race.
“We’re really excited to get back to Lucas Oil Raceway. It’s a neat racetrack where you can race from the yellow line all the way to the wall and it has rich tradition and history.” Remarked the DeWitt, Michigan driver. “It’s definitely one of those places I would love to win at. It’s my favorite racetrack that this tour runs and it would mean a ton to come out of there with a W. I have run here a few times and I think that is only going to help us make good decisions through practice and fine tune on our Auto Value Certified Service Centers Ford.”
In the series’ last race back on September 10th at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan, he Qualified eighth quick out of 21 teams and in the Berlin 100 Presented by JEGS.com which featured just a single caution flag, Finley would finish seventh and gain some valuable ground on the top two drivers in the points standings, Erik Jones and Eddie Hoffman, both who finished behind Finley in the race.
“We were able to gain some ground at Berlin, but with the way the points are, something crazy would have to happen to those guys these last two races for us to have a chance at the championship,” The 19-year-old added. “Plus we got guys real close behind us as well. My guys have worked so hard for me this year and we have overcame a lot of adversity and to still be third in the championship standings after all the bad luck and misfortunes we have had as of late speaks volumes about their never give up attitude. We can’t help but wonder where we would be if a few things would of gone the other way.” He stated.
Finley will go into the race at LOR third in the season long points chase after advancing one spot up the ladder after Berlin. Finley now sits 49 markers back of Hoffman for second and just 69 points behind current series Jones for the JEGS/CRA/GM points lead. (Jones 841, Hoffman 821, Finley 772).
So far in 2011, Finley has recorded three top five finishes with a season high of a second coming at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan back on June 17th. His two other top five’s were third place finishes at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio back on May 28th and his most recent podium showing at Owosso Speedway in Ovid, Michigan on September 3rd. Overall, he has racked up seven top 10 finishes in nine starts.
After the race at LOR, the 2011 season finale will be held during the 40th annual Winchester 400 weekend on Friday-Sunday, October 14-16th at the legendary ½ (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval of Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana. The 11th and final race for JEGS/CRA/GM will be the W&M Pier Mac 100 Presented by JEGS.com which highlights the Saturday portion of the three-day weekend on October 15th.
Winchester is the site of Finley’s hard crash back on August 20th during the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com and he’s eager to return to the famed high-banks to not only earn a little redemption, but to also have a shot at the 2011 JEGS/CRA/GM Championship. A solid finish at LOR will only help that cause, but Finley know to not look ahead to Winchester with this weekends’ race at LOR looming.
“We’re going to go into this weekend’s race with a little different mentality then we have had this season. We want to win before this year is over with. We have had chances this year, but we have had gremlins it seems on our back since mid June.” Finley said. “The way we are approaching this weekend is to not be conservative. If we can lead we will. We won’t be saving tires or none of that. We are just going to go out and race hard all night. I know (Crew Chief) Jimmy D. Smith and all the guys at CFR are going to give me another great racecar.” He ended.

Seventh Place Finish for 19-year-old Chad Finley at Berlin Raceway
DeWitt, MI (September 12, 2011) – The ninth race of the inaugural season for JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts would be the Berlin 100 Presented by JEGs.com at Berlin Raceway. The historic Western Michigan oval, a uniquely shaped 7/16 (0.437) mile semi-banked paved oval located west of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan would host the racing action on September 10th.
For 19-year-old Chad
Finley, heading to the famed Fairgrounds oval with experience there was a bonus and he would use his previous track experience to Qualify eighth quick out of the 21-car field, the inversion draw was a four, which placed Finley on the outside of the fourth row next to former three-time ARCA Racing Series Champion, Tim Steele.
At the start, Finley dropped back a few spots while the rest of the field sorted itself out in front of him. The strategy for the DeWitt, Michigan driver was to ride out the first half of the race, avoid the incidents from any cautions and then go all out in the final ½ of the race. The only problem was that only a single caution flew during the 100-lap main and once Finley started to work his way back through the field, he only managed to make it up to the seventh position, which is where he finished.
“We outthought ourselves tonight I guess!” Finley remarked after the race was over. “We wanted to save the tires for the end, but with only one caution the whole race, our plan backfired on us. I figured I could let a few cars go there at the beginning. We only had that one yellow and when we decided to go; we could only get back up to seventh. I won’t make that mistake again that’s for sure.” He added.
“The car was pretty solid all night, so that was a positive thing,” He continued. “We just made that one mistake and outthought ourselves. Never would have guessed in a million years that we would have only one caution the entire race, especially here.” Finley laughed. “But we’ll take it. It was a good points night for us, we finished ahead of everyone that was in front of us coming into the race, so we’ll keep chipping away and hope for the best for these last two races.” He ended.
After taking a couple of weekends off, the JEGS/CRA/GM tour will make their way down to the immaculate 0.686 mile semi-banked paved oval of Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis on Saturday and Sunday, October 1-2nd for the series’ 10th race of their inaugural season; The Fall Brawl 100 Presented by JEGS.com. All five traveling series’ within Champion Racing Association (CRA) will invade Clermont, Indiana for the weekend for a fun filled, festive, and important weekend in the Circle City.
As the JEGS/CRA/GM series heads to the Hoosier States’ capital city, Finley will go into the race third in the season long points chase after advancing one spot up the ladder after Berlin. Finley now sits 49 markers back of Eddie Hoffman for second and just 69 points behind current series points leader, Erik Jones. (Jones 841, Hoffman 821, Finley 772).
So far in 2011, Finley has recorded three top five finishes with a season high of a second coming at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan back on June 17th. His two other top five’s were third place finishes at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio back on May 28th and his most recent podium showing at Owosso. Overall, he has racked up seven top 10 finishes in eight starts.

Chad Finley Heading to Berlin Raceway in Search of First JEGS/CRA/GM Win
DeWitt, MI (September 8, 2011) – While still reflecting on what might have been at Owosso Speedway, 19-year-old Chad Finley knows that he has to put the past behind him and refocus his efforts on the next race of the inaugural season for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts; The Berlin 100 Presented by JEGs.com at Berlin Raceway.
The historic Western Michigan oval, a uniquely shaped 7/16 (0.437) mile semi-banked
paved oval located west of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan is the site for Race #9 out of 11 for the Salem, Indiana based series on Saturday, September 10th. Finley has enjoyed success at Berlin in an ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards car as he finished third there in the 2009 event for ARCA.
“I’m looking forward to Berlin. After the awesome car we had at Owosso, I’m hoping we can unload off the truck close to that and then just have the guys tweak on it.” The DeWitt, Michigan driver said. “Coming from Owosso where we could run three different grooves will be a change for sure going to Berlin and its’ unique shape and unique line you have to run to be successful there. This race is in Auto Value’s and AutoParts2020.com’s back yard, so we need a good solid run.”
In addition to the season long support from all of the great sponsors who’ve been with Chad Finley Racing (CFR) throughout the 2011 racing season as he chases after the 2011 JEGS/CRA/GM Championship, Neal’s Auto & Truck Parts, based in Grand Rapids will also have decals on the side of Finley’s Black #42 Ford Fusion for this event.
“I want to give them a very special thanks for coming on board as well. Also, a special shout out to Phil Harper Motorsports. He’s been doing a great job for us this year and I want to get him a well deserved win soon as well. We’ll see what happens though this year has been full of surprises to say the least.” He ended.
Also coming to Berlin is Brady Thom who will have Michigan State University’s Formula team and car on display as well. “I want to thank Chad Finley Racing and Berlin Raceway Promoter, Mike Blackmer for having the MSU team at the track.” Thom stated.
“This is a great opportunity for these students to get firsthand knowledge of how a car is set up. The Team is very excited and we really want to thank Finley as well as Jimmy Novak and Cody Coughlin for letting the guy’s from the MSU Formula team hang out with their teams and get first-hand experience.” He ended.
Going into the race at Berlin and off of his podium finish of a third at Owosso, Finley has vaulted up the points standings and went from sixth to fourth in the season long points chase. He’s only five markers behind third place Josh Nelms (691-686) and is only 68 points out of the points lead in the chase for the inaugural JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts Championship.
Overall, he has accumulated six top 10 finishes in eight starts.
At Owosso over the Labor Day Holiday Weekend on September 3rd, Finley started on the pole and led the first 72 laps before the backstretch lights suddenly went out on lap 72 forcing the field to come to a halt. During the red flag for repairs to the lights, a slow leak developed in Finley’s right front tire and once the field was restarted, he was forced to pit to change the tire and would restart at the rear of the field. Finley would then put on a display of driving few have seen in recent memory as he came from 19th all the way up to third and was on runner-up finisher, Josh Nelms’ back bumper before ending the race on the podium in third.

Near Victory at Home Track for 19-year-old Chad Finley
DeWitt, MI (September 6, 2011) – The Big “O” Classic 100 Presented by JEGS.com had all the makings of a complete and successful comeback for 19-year-old Chad Finley as the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts was at Owosso Speedway in Ovid, Michigan, just 20 minutes from Finley’s race shop in DeWitt, Michigan.

In the series’ previous race at the legendary Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana back on August 20th, Finley ended up on his roof after a hard crash which destroyed his race car. After taking the battered machine up to Howe Racing Enterprises in Beaverton, Michigan followed by bringing the new piece back to the race shop and spending countless hours getting the #42 AutoParts2020.com Ford Fusion ready to go for the weekend, things were looking good for Finley at Owosso.
After starting on the pole of the century grind at the fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval in Central Michigan, Finley dominated throughout the first 3/4s of the 100-lap feature when the lights went out “literally” on his chances of a win!
The backstretch lights suddenly went out on lap 72 forcing the field to come to a halt.
“I don’t know what we have to do get some good luck sent our way! Man, to lead that many laps and have a crazy red flag for track lights going out is unreal,” a dejected Finley remarked. “We picked up a tiny piece of wire in the right front that caused our flat. I am just heartbroken for all my guys and sponsors. We had a lot of folks here tonight and we had them covered on the track!”
“My spotter was telling me to ride and I said I am!” He laughed. “I told him; I’m only running about 80%, that’s how good the car was! We really needed this one for my guys. We all really worked hard to get prepared for this race after Winchester. After the open test on Wednesday, we honestly weren’t that good. But the crew never gave up and went right back at it and really tuned on it and that car was awesome. After the flat tire, we blasted up through and got a third out of it, so at least we salvaged something.”
There’s little time to reflect on his run at Owosso as the JEGS/CRA/GM series will now head to the historic 7/16s (0.437) mile semi-banked paved oval of Berlin Raceway, located West of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan on Saturday, September 10th for the running of the Berlin 100 Presented by JEGS.com. Finley has enjoyed success at Berlin in an ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards car as he finished third there in the 2009 event for ARCA.
“We’ll keep digging and go to Berlin and hope for a good solid finish,” He continued. “We’re so close to winning one of these things and despite our luck this season we’re right in the middle of the series title chase. We still have a shot at winning the whole thing. I know Berlin is tough on some guys and I hope our past success there can continue this weekend and maybe we can get to victory lane there.” Finley ended.

Hard Crash at Winchester Speedway Results in Destroyed Racecar for Chad Finley
DeWitt, MI (August 23, 2011) – Anytime someone goes to the legendary Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana for the first time, there’s a lot of awe when you walk into the fast ½ (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval. The history of the Hoosier State speed plant literally smacks you in
the face when one thinks of all the greats drivers of yesteryear who have raced there and those that have visited victory lane. For 19-year-old Chad Finley, his first ever appearance at Winchester was one he’d like to forget.
The Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com on August 20th proved costly to the entire Chad Finley Racing Team as an accident with JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts points leader, Eddie Hoffman resulted in one of the most spectacular wrecks in the series’ brief history! After contact was made between the two on lap 67, Finley slammed the turn three wall, climbed up the fence before barrel-rolled down the track and completely destroying the car. He was ok after the horrific looking incident.
“There isn’t enough words that can describe how ticked off I am right now. There’s only two people driving those race cars off into that corner and only those two know exactly what happened. I guarantee you I had no part in causing that wreck!” A dejected Finley remarked. “We’re a very under-funded team and we
can’t afford to do that. Eddie (Hoffman) knows what he did! You know what they say what goes around comes around.” Finley added.
“Our car is completely destroyed and the only thing to be thankful for is that I’m okay.” He continued. “I’m, honored from the ton of support we are getting from fans and people wanting to help us any way they can to get our car fixed. From donating money for repairs to wanting to come to the shop and help is pretty awesome. We have had some calls on people wanting to loan us cars as well until we get ours fixed which is very cool also. Will see what happens. Hopefully we can make it to Owosso with our car. Chas and entire Howe team are going to do their best. That’s a huge show for us, it’s the closest thing to a home track for us in the JEGS/CRA/GM series and we’ll figure out a way to somehow make it to that show.”
In the end, Finley was shown 16th in the run down and the accident proved costly in more ways than one. Going into the race, Finley was third in the points standings and after the accident, fell all the way down to sixth but only 13 points out of third as Brandon Watson, Josh Nelms, Brent Downey, and Finley are all lumped together (601-594-589-588). In addition and due to the carnage of the race at Winchester, the points spread is even closer behind Finley as Claude Plante Jr., and Rookie Cody Coughlin are on the heels of Finley (576-569). Just 32 points separate third through eighth.
The next race on the JEGS/CRA/GM schedule is on Saturday, September 3rd at Finley’s home track on the Salem, Indiana based schedule, Owosso Speedway in Ovid, Michigan as the Big “O” Classic 100 Presented by JEGS.com will highlight the Labor Day Holiday Weekend on the fast multi-grooved 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval in Central Michigan, just 20 minutes from Finley’s race shop.

Testing of New / Old Car Complete; 19-year-old Chad Finley ready for Owosso Speedway
DeWitt, MI (September 1, 2011) – After crashing extremely hard at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana back on August 20th, which resulted in a destroyed racecar, the Chad Finley Racing Team immediately went to work on rebuilding the car that was wrecked in the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com. After countless hours and many sleepless nights, the car is back together.
The big test came at an open test session at the next track on the inaugural 2011 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts, the historic Owosso Speedway in Ovid, Michigan, located just 20 minutes from the CFR race shop in DeWitt, Michigan. The fast 3/8s (0.375) mile high-banked paved oval hosted a Wednesday night test and tune on August 31st and the Finley crew was one of the first teams to pull their hauler into the pits for the extended Practice.
“The first thing I need to do is thank Brian Warnaar, Chuck Hoffmeyer, Steve Moore, Jimmy D. Smith, Skyller Drews, and my Dad for all their help in getting this car back together.” The appreciative 19-year-old stated. “They all put in tons of hours for this car to even get it to the track yesterday. Brian and Chuck especially! We all worked really hard and I just hope they get the recognition that they deserve.”
“I’ve also got to sincerely thank Chas Howe at Howe Racing Enterprises up in Beaverton and his staff as well. We got the car up there the Monday after Winchester and got it back the very next afternoon!” He continued. “I also have to thank my fans and friends for all the emails and donations to make this happen.” He added.
As for the test in preparation for the Big “O” Classic 100 Presented by JEGS.com this Saturday, September 3rd, the team went right to work on the #42 Ford Fusion; “We got it done in time to make the test at Owosso yesterday. We were decent but we’re missing a little something. The last run we made, that change seem to help the most all day. We will get it back in the shop and go through the entire car again before Saturday.”
The DeWitt, Michigan driver then ended: “I feel we need a tenth and half and these guys will find it. It’s been a rough week to 10 days on us all. Last night though, we were all home by 10:00p.m., and got some much needed rest. We’ll keep digging and we’ll be alright for Saturday. It’s the closest race on the schedule to a home track for us and we’ll do our best to make our fans proud of us.” Finley ended.
Heading into the Owosso event, Finley is sixth in the season long points chase, but only 13 points out of third as Brandon Watson, Josh Nelms, Brent Downey, and Finley are all lumped together (601-594-589-588). In addition and due to the carnage of the race at Winchester, the points spread is even closer behind Finley as Claude Plante Jr., and Rookie Cody Coughlin are on the heels of Finley (576-569). 19-year-old Chad Finley prepares for first ever visit to the legendary Winchester Speedway
DeWitt, MI (August 16, 2011) – The first trip to any race track in the country is always a little special to every driver who gets behind the wheel of a racecar. When that first visit is to a track like the legendary Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Indiana, those feelings of visiting a facility for the first time take on a whole new meaning.
The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts gets back to racing after taking a couple of weekends off on Saturday, August 20th at the historic ½ (0.500) mile high-banked paved oval located approximately
90 minutes Northeast of Indianapolis for the running of the Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com. 19-year-old Chad Finley has been eagerly awaiting this event since the 2011 schedule was released over the winter.
“We’re really looking forward to Winchester. We needed that break to replace the engine and get reorganized.” Explained the DeWitt, Michigan driver. “We got a pin hole in the lower radiator hose at Rockford and overheated the engine pretty bad. I really would like to take the time to thank everyone at Phil Harper Motorsports. They worked really hard to get the engine back to us. We were out of options had they not done that.” He added. “Great people to work with and we are proud to be associated with them.”
“So now hopefully we can turn our luck around down there on the fast high-banks and find victory lane. The car has been real good, but we’ve had just a lot bad luck following us this season.” The Great Lakes State driver added. “We all want it bad so we are hoping the door will open for us very soon. What better place to win our first one in this series then at Winchester?” He asked.
In Finley’s last race within JEGS/CRA/GM was at Rockford Speedway in Loves Park, Illinois on July 30th for the running of the Stanley Steemer 100 Presented by JEGS.com. Finley qualified fourth quick out of 23 cars and after an inversion draw of an eight, he would start the 100-lap main from the inside of the third row next to former event winner and long-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran, Rich Bickle Jr. The two drivers battled tooth and nail as they battled for second. .
Just past the halfway point, a tire went down on Finley’s #42 Auto Value Parts Stores Ford and he was forced to pit. On the restart, Finley made an impressive charge back up through the field and was battling with hometown favorite, Ryan Carlson for third when on lap 81, his power plant let go ending the night earlier than planned for the DeWitt, Michigan driver.
As the series heads to Winchester, Indiana, Finley sits third in the season long points chase as he is 65 markers back of current points leader, Eddie Hoffman and only 20 points behind Erik Jones (585-540-520). Heartbreak at Rockford after multiple runs towards the front for 19-year-old Chad Finley
DeWitt, MI (August 3, 2011) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts has proved after six events of the 11 scheduled that some of the best drivers in the country are vying for the win on any given night. The competition in the inaugural season for the Salem, Indiana based series is some of the fiercest seen in recent memory and Chad Finley is right in the middle of it all.
The fast 0.292 mile high-banked paved oval of Rockford Speedway in Loves Park, Illinois was the site for the next JEGS/CRA/GM race on July 30th for the running of the Stanley Steemer 100 Presented by JEGS.com is up next. Prior to this event, Finley has raced at the historic Prairie State oval before in the now defunct ASA Late Model Series and had hoped his experience there from back in the 2007 racing season will carry over four years later.
The experience at the historic Prairie State oval paid off for Finley who qualified fourth quick out of 23 cars. After an inversion draw of an eight, he would start the 100-lap main from the inside of the third row next to former event winner and long-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran, Rich Bickle Jr. The two drivers battled tooth and nail as they worked their way up to second and third respectively.
“This has to be the toughest and most hard fought day of my career,” Exclaimed Finley. “We lost the power steering and then the helmet blower went out 20 laps in. I really thought that we toughed it out and got up to second before the flat. After we pitted, we did the best we possibly could to get back up towards the front and after we got by Ryan (Carlson) for third, I began focusing on second place when the motor got hot and let go.”
“Definitely a heartbreaker for sure,” He continued. “But only the strong survive and we will be back. I’ve got to thank everyone on the crew. It was a hot day and night and we all worked really hard and had a great
race car. Man what a bummer. But we’ll be back and we’re heading to Winchester, so we’re right back at it in the shop and we’ll be ready for the high-banks.” Finley ended.
As the Salem, Indiana based series takes a couple of weekends off to regroup for the stretch run to close out the remainder of the 2011 racing season, Finley slipped to third in the season long points chase as he is 65 markers back of current points leader, Eddie Hoffman and only 20 points behind Erik Jones (585-540-520).

We were better than our 10th place finish there. These guys at CFR work way too hard to be denied a win this season, so will see how it goes.” He added.
Heading into the Prairie State, Finley remains second in the chase for the inaugural series championship, but now sits 52 markers back of series points leader Hoffman (493-441). Top 10 finish at Illiana keeps Chad Finley in second place in the chase for the inaugural JEGS/CRA title
DeWitt, MI (July, 20, 2011) – As the 2011 racing season has passed the ½ way point, Chad Finley knows there’s still more work yet to be done in the chase for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tours’ first ever Championship title chase. The series, in its maiden season, has provided fans around the Midwest with some of the most competitive racing in the country.
Finley and the Chad Finley
Racing (CFR) Team ventured down to the Chicagoland area and the second consecutive make-up race for the Salem, Indiana based series. This time, it was the Illiana 100 Presented by JEGS.com on July 16th at Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, Indiana. This race was originally scheduled for May 14th, but Mother Nature intervened back on May 14th and forced JEGS/CRA Officials to reschedule this event at the ½ (0.500) mile semi-banked paved oval.
After Qualifying sixth fastest out of the 21 cars on the grounds, Finley missed the inversion, which was a four, and would start the 100-lap main from the outside of the third row next to Josh Nelms. After working his way up to as high as third, contact with Brandon Watson while racing for second caused handling problems for Finley’s machine resulting in a severe loose condition the rest of the way. In the end, Finley finished 10th while points leader, Eddie Hoffman would end up winning his second race of the season.
“Illiana ended up being a pretty tough race for us. We were really good off the truck and had a great qualifying run. From the drop of the green I felt like we had a dominant car,” Remarked the 19-year-old after the race. “We got up to the top three and was battling for second with the #9 car (Brandon Watson). He lost it or something and hit us and got me in the wall and knocked the toe out and broke off the rear spoiler. That messed up our night for sure.” He added.
“We were wicked loose the rest of the way. It’s really unfortunate all my guys at CFR work extremely hard and we do a lot with very little. I hate that we lost so many points to Eddie (Hoffman) but we aren’t going to give up and were going to keep trying to win races and go about doing it the right way. We will be back.” The DeWitt, Michigan driver ended.

19-year-old Chad Finley moves into second place in the chase for the Inaugural JEGS/CRA Title
DeWitt, MI (July, 13, 2011) – Chad Finley knew he’d have his work cut out for him in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tours’ return trip to Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana for the rescheduled Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com on Saturday, July 9th. Qualifying was completed back on June 4th, but Mother Nature intervened and pushed the race to July 9th. Back on June 4th, Finley Qualified 12th and after waiting over a month, the 19-year-old would start the race from the outside of the sixth row.
“The month off from Anderson was a good thing for us. When we left here last month we were not as good as we needed to be. Crew Chief Jimmy D. (Smith) and all the boys at CFR (Chad Finley Racing) worked extremely hard to get us better then what we were in the first visit. It was nice to have the test on Friday as it really helped us out for Saturday.” The DeWitt, Michigan driver remarked. “Our Howe Racing Enterprises Ford was really good during the race but track position was key and it hurt us starting back in 12th.” He added.
As Finley has done all season long, he persevered through the 100-lap main event and after all was said and done, would come out of the ¼ mile bull ring in Central Indiana with a respectable seventh place finish. “We came out of there in one piece and head to Illiana with a few scratches on the car and that’s a great thing.” Finley continued. “We had some carburetor problems the last part of the race and that really hurt us. I think we gained a few points tonight even though we have a long ways to go this season”
The seventh place finish was well earned as the Great Lakes State teenager felt pressure over the last part of the century grind from current JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Points Leader, Eddie Hoffman. “It was all I could do to hold off Eddie at the end there. We raced each other really clean there for 25 laps. I’m really proud of everyone at CFR and thankful for all of the people that make this happen. We are just going to keep chipping away and be there at the end of the season.” He ended.
The next race on the JEGS/CRA Schedule is another make-up event as the Illiana 100 Presented by JEGS.com is set for Saturday, July 16th at Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, Indiana. This race was originally scheduled for May 14th, but just like the Anderson race, Mother Nature intervened and forced
JEGS/CRA Officials to reschedule this event at the Chicagoland ½ (0.500) mile semi-banked paved oval.
Heading into the Illiana 100 Presented by JEGS.com, Finley now sits in second place in the chase for the Inaugural JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Championship as he is just 27 markers behind Hoffman (388-361). For the remainder of the 2011 racing season, Finley’s No. 42 Howe Racing Enterprises chassis outfitted with a Ford Fusion body and a crate motor from Phil Harper Motorsports carries sponsorship from; Rain Eater Wiper Blades, as well as AutoParts2020.com, Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers, Airlift Company, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, NorthsideTowing.net, and M.P.H. A Trip Back to Anderson Speedway for 19-year-old Chad Finley for Rescheduled JEGS/CRA race
DeWitt, MI (July, 6, 2011) – After taking a couple of weekends off from racing to reflect on his future in the NASCAR Nationwide Series as well as his quest for the inaugural 2011 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Championship, 19-year-old Chad Finley and his Chad Finley Racing (CFR) Team are refreshed and ready to take on the second half of the 2011 racing season.
The next JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour race for CFR is a return trip to Anderson Speedway in
Anderson, Indiana for the rescheduled Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com on Saturday, July 9th. Keyser Manufacturing Qualifying was completed back on June 4th, but Mother Nature intervened and pushed the race to July 9th. Back on June 4th, Finley Qualified 12th and will start the race from the outside of the sixth row.
“We’re looking forward to getting back to racing. (Crew Chief) Jimmy D. (Smith) and all the CFR guys are doing what we need to do to find victory lane. The open test at Anderson (On Friday, July 8th) is a big plus for us to help get dialed in.” Finley explained. “When we left there back in June, I felt like we needed to be much better, so this will get us in that direction I hope.” He added.
Heading into Anderson, Finley is sitting third in the series points standings, just 19 back of Erik Jones who is in second. Eddie Hoffman is the points leader and holds down a 10-point lead over Jones and a 29-point advantage over Finley who has an eight point lead over fourth place Claude Plante Jr. (304-286-275-266).
Finley’s #42 Auto Value-Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers / AutoParts2020.com / Rain Eater Wiper Blades Ford Fusion will have a slightly different look to it when it arrives in Anderson, Indiana; “We have moved AutoParts2020.com to the quarter panels for the remainder of the year so maybe that will be our good luck charm.” He added.
“We just can’t thank AutoParts2020.com enough as well as Auto Value-Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers for their continued support. We also launched the Rain Eater Wiper Blades promotion last week as well. So please check my web site (www.chadfinleyracing.com) and get out to your local Auto Value store and get some quality blades and help support our efforts.” Finley smiled.
In Finley’s last JEGS/CRA race at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan back on June 17th, and after getting to the track to late to practice due to his attempted debut in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race down at Michigan International Speedway, Finley relied on his experience on the 4/10s (0.400) mile progressively banked d-shaped paved oval to lock into the field seventh quick out of 25 cars and when Keyser Manufacturing Fast Qualifier, Jones drew a seven for the inversion, Finley would start the 100-lap main from the pole.
He would lead the first 12 laps before eventual winner, Hoffman got by on lap 13. After contact late in the race between Hoffman and Jones who were battling for the lead with just three laps to go, Finley slid by Jones and offered up a late challenge to Hoffman, but in the end settled for his second straight podium finish in JEGS/CRA competition with a second place showing.
As for his JEGS/CRA machine and for the remainder of the 2011 racing season, Finley’s No. 42 Howe Racing Enterprises chassis outfitted with a Ford Fusion body and a crate motor from Phil Harper Motorsports carries sponsorship from; Rain Eater Wiper Blades, as well as AutoParts2020.com, Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers, Airlift Company, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, NorthsideTowing.net, and M.P.H. Promotions.
Finley’s NASCAR Nationwide Series efforts continue on Saturday, September 17th at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois. His #25 Team Rensi Motorsports Ford is sporting decals from; Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers, who have over 5000 locations throughout North America offering quality auto parts and first class dependable service. Also supporting Finley’s NASCAR Nationwide Series efforts are the Airlift Company, Rain Eater Wiper Blades, and AutoParts2020.com.

Chad Finley goes from Heartbreak (MIS) to the Podium (Dixie) with a second place finish
DeWitt, Michigan (Monday, June 20th, 2011): The busiest day of 19-year-old Chad Finley’s career was on Friday, June 17th as the day started off at the Two-Mile Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan for the NASCAR Nationwide Series and ended with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event, the Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan.
On Friday afternoon at MIS, Finley was hoping to shake down his #25 Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers Ford for Team Rensi Motorsports (TRM). After timing in 27th fastest out of the 46 entries in the first session, the DeWitt, Michigan driver was turning laps in the second session and was up to 17th when the car suddenly got away from him and Finley ended up smacking the turn four wall hard. He was ok, but the car was done for the weekend and Finley’s NASCAR Nationwide Series debut will now be on September 17th at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois.
“It was not the weekend we had hoped for in the Nationwide car. We were working on it and making some very nice gains as we were pretty tight in the early going. Then she just broke loose on me in the middle of turns three and four and I ended up in the wall,” Explained Finley. “I just feel terrible for TRM and all our sponsors. Everyone on the team worked very hard for me to make this all happen. They were very supportive afterwards and that meant a lot. Good group here and that’s what I need”
The crash forced Finley and the TRM crew to withdraw from the Alliance Truck Parts 250, which was won the next day by Carl Edwards. “We will get there as a team though,” Continued the 19-year-old driver. “I felt like we worked together very well and I learned a lot in our time in the car. “We’ll just hold our heads up high and start over again.” Finley stated.
After the incident, Finley and his Father, Michigan Motorsports Hall of Famer, Jeff Finley made the two hour trip north to Dixie, located north of Flint, Michigan for the third JEGS/CRA race of the season. After getting to the track to late to practice, Finley relied on his experience on the 4/10s (0.400) mile progressively banked d-shaped paved oval to lock into the field seventh quick out of 25 cars and when Keyser Manufacturing Fast Qualifier, 15-year-old Erik Jones drew a seven for the inversion, Finley would start the 100-lap main from the pole.
“The JEGS/CRA car was really good. Got there just in time to Qualify and put her seventh. I have to thank Leo Smith for his help practicing the car for me.” He continued. Finley would lead the first 12 laps before eventual winner, Eddie Hoffman, the current series point’s leader, got by on lap 13. After contact late in the race between Hoffman and Jones who were battling for the lead with just three laps to go, Finley slid by Jones and offered up a late challenge to Hoffman, but in the end settled for his second straight podium finish in JEGS/CRA competition with a second place showing.
“We led some laps and got her home second with a chance to win. Sure picked my spirits up from the day I just had at MIS that’s for sure.” He smiled. “I need to thank all of the crew with the CFR team. They’re a great bunch of people to work with and that’s what it takes. We’ll win one of these JEGS/CRA races before too long.” He ended.
The next JEGS/CRA race equals a trip back to Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana for the rescheduled Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com on Saturday, July 9th. Keyser Manufacturing Qualifying was already completed back on June 4th, but Mother Nature intervened and pushed the race to July 9th. Back on June 4th, Finley Qualified 12th and will start the race from the outside of the sixth row.
Heading into Anderson, Finley is now sitting third in the series point’s standings, just 19 markers back of Jones who is in second. Hoffman is the point’s leader and holds down a 10-point lead on Jones and a 29-point advantage over Finley who has an eight point lead over fourth place Claude Plante Jr. (304-294-275-266).
Sporting decals on the side of the NASCAR Nationwide Series machine, the #25 Team Rensi Motorsports Ford are; Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers, who have over 5000 locations throughout North America offering quality auto parts and first class dependable service. Also supporting Finley’s NASCAR Nationwide Series debut are the Airlift Company, Rain Eater Wiper Blades, and AutoParts2020.com.
As for his JEGS/CRA machine and for the remainder of the 2011 racing season, Finley’s No. 42 Howe Racing Enterprises chassis, sporting a Ford Fusion body with power from a Phil Harper Crate Engine will carry sponsorship from; Rain Eater Wiper Blades, as well as AutoParts2020.com, Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers, Airlift Company, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, NorthsideTowing.net and M.P.H. Biggest Weekend of 19-year-old Chad Finley’s Life is Here!
DeWitt, MI (June 14, 2011) – To say that the upcoming Fathers Day Weekend is a huge weekend for 19-year-old Chad Finley would be an understatement. Not only will it be very busy racing in two events at two different facilities, the two tracks couldn’t be further from opposites and the two cars that Finley will be driving are at the most opposite ends of the spectrum one could imagine.
It all begins on Friday, June 17th with by far the busiest day of the DeWitt, Michigan drivers’ career as he’ll be at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan first thing in the morning for Tech Inspection and Practice for the Alliance Truck Parts 250 for the NASCAR Nationwide Series as Finley will be looking to make his debut in NASCAR’s second series the following day.
While he’ll be behind the wheel of the #25 Auto Value – Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers / AutoParts2020.com Ford for Team Rensi Motorsports (TRM) turning laps in Practice around the huge 2.0 mile oval in the Irish Hills, his own Chad Finley Racing (CFR) JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour machine will be sitting in the pit area preparing for the third JEGS/CRA event of the 2011 racing season; The Dixie 100 Presented by JEGS.com at Dixie Motor Speedway in Birch Run, Michigan
With Practice on-going at M.I.S., Finley won’t be able to shake down his JEGS/CRA machine, the #42 Rain Eater Wiper Blades / AutoParts2020.com Ford at Dixie during JEGS/CRA Practice. So veteran Pro Late Model standout, Leo Smith will be behind the wheel of Finley’s JEGS/CRA ride during Practice with Finley expected to make the nearly two hour trip from Brooklyn to Birch Run, Michigan in time for Keyser Manufacturing Qualifying.
“Friday will be lot of fun. Both TRM and CFR crews have worked really hard for this day. We got things worked out to where hopefully I can make it to Dixie in time to just jump in and qualify.” The excited DeWitt, Michigan stand out remarked. “I can’t thank JEGS/CRA and Dixie Officials enough for working with us on trying to make all of this happen. I am very focused on both tasks at hand here to make a very special weekend for us all” He added.
Heading into Dixie, a 4/10s (0.400) mile progressively banked d-shaped paved oval, Finley sits a solid fourth in the JEGS/CRA points standings, just 21 markers out of the points lead currently held by veteran Eddie Hoffman. Finley is coming off an impressive third place finish at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio in the CoughlinCars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com back over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend on Saturday May 28th.

The JEGS/CRA did travel to Anderson Speedway in Anderson, Indiana the following weekend; Saturday, June 4th, for the Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com, but after Qualifying 12th, the Anderson 100 Presented by JEGS.com was postponed to Saturday July 9th due to weather in the area right after Keyser Manufacturing Qualifying.
As for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at M.I.S., and in an ironic twist, when he gets behind the wheel of the Team Rensi Motorsports ride over the Fathers Day weekend, he will follow in his father, Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame Driver, Jeff Finley’s footsteps. The elder Finley also made his first NASCAR Nationwide Series start with Ed Rensi at the season opener at Daytona International Speedway back in 1999 (When the series was still known as the NASCAR Busch Series)
“My dad drove for Ed Rensi and we’ve known him and (President) Ronnie Russell since 1998 and have a great relationship,” The 19-year-old explained. “Ed has helped me throughout my career and we were able to put together some sponsorship with Auto Value who has also been with me every step of the way as well.” Finley is no stranger to the Brooklyn, Michigan speed plant as he finished seventh in an ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards event there in 2010. “It’s home and we felt like it would be a really good place to start,” he added. “I just can’t thank everyone enough for making all of this happen.”
The Alliance Truck Parts 250 will see Qualifying getting underway on Saturday, June 18th at 11:10a.m. With 46 teams entered, Finley will have to earn his way into the show on his Qualifying time since Team Rensi Motorsports in currently not in the top 30 in NASCAR Nationwide Series Owners Points. Finley will look to be one of the 43 starters who will take the green flag LIVE on ABC starting at 3:30p.m.
Sporting decals on the side of the #25 Team Rensi Motorsports Ford at M.I.S., will be; Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers, who have over 5000 locations throughout North America offering quality auto parts and first class dependable service.
Chad Finley Finishes Third at Columbus. Prepares for Anderson and a Busy June Schedule of Events
DeWitt, MI (June 1, 2011) - Perseverance and dedication are two traits that all race car drivers have in their repertoire. After a subpar Qualifying effort and having to go to the back of the field twice, Chad Finley’s determination was rewarded over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend in Columbus, Ohio in the running of the CoughlinCars.com 100 Presented by JEGS.com.
The 1/3 (0.333) mile semi-banked paved oval of Columbus Motor Speedway
in the Buckeye States’ capital city on Saturday, May 28th was the sight for race number two in the inaugural season for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts. After running second quick in Practice, the DeWitt, Michigan driver struggled in Qualifying and would time in 18th quick.
“What a day at Columbus!” We rolled off the truck really good in practice. In qualifying we where third out and the track was real greasy and we struggled there and found our tire stagger opened up a bunch.” Explained the 19-year-old. “We fixed that and was coming up through there and got turned around from behind. Then we spun out again, so to the back of the field we went.” He added.
So Finley would start all over again and charged through the field and got up to third and right on the back bumper of Eddie Hoffman who was running in second. On the white flag lap, Finley made a daring move going to the outside of Hoffman and race leader, Jimmy Carter making it three-wide going into the corner on the final lap. Carter got a good run off of the corner leaving Hoffman and Finley to battle for second. Hoffman just nipped Finley at the line giving Finley a third place finish.
“Double file restarts were very tough! Columbus is a hard place to pass, but I wanted to give the fans a good show. I figured I’ve done all this work to get up to the front, might as well go all the way,” He explained. “I’m very proud of everyone at Chad Finley Racing, we never gave up and it was a good solid effort. Plus we moved up in the points too.” He ended. Finley advanced from eighth to fourth in the season long points chase and picked up a slew of post-race contingency awards from the series.
In addition to his JEGS/CRA/GM schedule, Finley is preparing for his debut in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan on Saturday, June 18th in the running of the Alliance Truck Parts 250. Finley will be racing for Team Rensi Motorsports (TRM) and will be behind the wheel of the #25 Ford Mustang for Ed Rensi and the rest of TRM team.
For the remainder of the 2011 racing season, Finley’s No. 42 Howe Racing Enterprises chassis, sporting a Ford Fusion body and power from a Phil Harper Crate Engine in the JEGS/CRA/GM series, will carry sponsorship from; AutoParts2020.com, as well as Auto Value / Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores & Certified Service Centers, Airlift Company, Rain Eater Wiper Blades, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, NorthsideTowing.net and M.P.H. Promotions.

I have been told Illiana is a flat race track with very low grip. I like those kinds of tracks so hopefully all the stars align for us that night. We will see. If not it won’t be from lack of effort that’s for sure.” He added.
The next race on the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts schedule for Finley and his CFR Team will be on Saturday, May 14th in the running of the Illiana 100 Presented by JEGS.com at the ½ (0.500) mile semi-banked paved oval of Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, Indiana in the heart of the Chicagoland region of the country.
“We had a good run for our first time out with a brand new car with no previous testing or anything. We got the car late and we had lots of obstacles to overcome just to make it to Toledo,” Explained the DeWitt, Michigan native. ”I’m very proud of all the guys at CFR. Jimmy D., did an awesome job with the set up. We were close in the last practice and I really thought we had a top five car and the way things ended maybe a top three car.”
In addition to the 2011 JEGS/CRA/GM schedule, Finley will make his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut with Team Rensi Motorsports on Saturday, June 18th at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan. Eighth Place Finish at Toledo has 19-year-old Chad Finley optimistic heading to Illiana on May 14th
DeWitt, MI (April 27, 2011) – A stout 39-car field graced Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio for the Inaugural race for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts; The VR-12 Easter Bunny 100 Presented by JEGS.com. Finley responded immediately by qualifying eighth fastest and solidly locking himself into the show. An adventurous race which featured two red flags was the story of the night. However after all was said and done and despite some body damage to the car, the 19-year-old finished where he started in eighth place.
“We had a good run for our first time out with a brand new car with no previous testing or anything. We got the car late and we had lots of obstacles to overcome just to make it to Toledo,” Explained the DeWitt, Michigan native. ”I’m very proud of all the guys at Chad Finley Racing (CFR). (Crew Chief) Jimmy D. Smith did an awesome job with the set up. We were close in the last practice and I really thought we had a top five car and the way things ended maybe a top three car.”
Early in the race, Finley rocketed up to as high as fourth in the early going of the 100-lap main. “We got tight and hurt the right front tire.” Continued Finley. “We ended up with a vibration just past half way, so we started to ride to the finish. Big thanks to all of our sponsors. With out there help we simply could not do this. Just six weeks ago we didn’t even have a car and we weren’t even sure if we would make it to Toledo!
